INCOMING: The DIII Recruiting Hub

Here at www.division3tennis.com, we love to push the envelope. Whether it’s providing bulletin board material for our avid student readers, interviews with current coaches, or simply power ranking 40 DIII Tennis teams, we try and keep it fresh for everyone that is involved in DIII Tennis. Well, almost everyone. The team here at the Blog has identified a certain group of potential enthusiasts that currently don’t have any reason to read the blog – that would be prospective DIII Recruits. The Blog writers are here to change that.

Welcome to the DIII Recruiting Hub, where prospective recruits can find information on their potential DIII schools as well as the blog team’s thoughts on those schools.

You got that right, coaches. The team will be working with Tennis Recruiting as a main hub for aspiring DIII tennis players.  The Recruiting Hub will occupy a separate part of our site here at The Blog, while also finding some real estate on the Tennis Recruiting Home Page. Now, I am sure you will have a lot of questions, so we are here to answer them for you prior to the launch date, which should happen sometime this month.

Q: What kind of information will be found on the Recruiting Hub?

A: First, we’ll be rolling out with school profiles.  That means basic information, such as Location, average TRN ranking, average UTR, US News Ranking, and more. The bloggers will also give their number rankings on a variety of different team aspects. We will add in the types of jobs some of your alumni have gotten, along with a couple of paragraphs about the school in general. For those of you that wish to potentially affect these writeups, please be in communication with us.

Q: Why is the Blog doing this? Don’t you guys specialize on current events?

A: We have been challenged to provide a service that benefits not only current players, but coaches and prospective students as well. This is exactly that. Throughout our time at the Blog, we have picked up a wealth of knowledge about DIII Tennis. I remember when I was a young recruit – I didn’t have nearly as much information as some of the recruits do today. This is an effort to continue the momentum of DIII in order to help recruits make even more educated decisions.

Q: How can I, a coach, impact the Recruiting Hub?

A: The answer is quite simple actually. Communicate with us. The goal of this initiative is to give the prospective recruit the most tools he can to make the most educated choice on the biggest decision of his life to date (for the most part). While we will still give our thoughts on the schools in order to give an unbiased opinion, we are happy to receive feedback in any way possible to make sure your school’s profile is representing your school properly. Let’s work together to give the college recruit a better understanding of DIII teams. Expect some emails from your regional blogger sometime soon. After that, it’s really up to you to determine if this is a worthwhile opportunity for you. Also, we don’t mind if you contact us either. Makes our job a whole lot easier.

Q: I see that some of these values are subjective. What if I don’t agree with the values?

A: This is a very valid point. While the bloggers do have a ton of experience (the blog is 10 years old!), we will not pretend to be the end-all, be-all of DIII Tennis. However, we will absolutely provide some opinion in these profiles based on our experiences and interactions with all the coaches and players. We have a ton of respect for every DIII program out there and that’s a main reason why we blog.  Please note there will be a disclaimer stating that some of the data presented in the profiles will be determined by the blog team. We will be doing our very best to represent each and every school we cover in the best and most objective way possible. Just as a coach’s job is to present the school in a tailored presentation to each and every recruit, it is our job to present the school from an objective standpoint.

Q: Okay, I understand the Recruiting Hub. When will this be posted and how will it be upkept?

A: As mentioned in the introduction, the Recruiting Hub is set to be unveiled by the end of the month with at least 15 teams being profiled. We aim to have at least 30 teams done by the end of the year and will continue with more teams from there. In terms of upkeep, the Blog will update as we see fit, with a minimum of one update per year.  Of course, with any big changes that need to be made, we will update accordingly.

Q: Is there anywhere where I can see a mock-up of the potential school profiles?

A: Yes, there is. Your wish is our command. Please see below.

And that’s all there is to it. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact myself, another blogger, or write in the comments.  We are here to make sure this service is the best it can possibly be to make sure prospective recruits are well-educated in their future decisions. We want to represent your school as best we possibly can.  Please feel free to contact us via the following avenues.  Feel free to contact whomever you feel most confident in contacting, whether that be myself, the Guru, or your regional writer.
