Provide the Blog Feedback, 2019 Edition!

With much excitement but also sadness, another amazing DIII season will come to an end today at the Men’s and Women’s finals. However, do not fear. DIII Tennis will continue on after today, and I am excited to say that with DIII Tennis comes another year of our Division III Tennis blog. Many of my writers are signed on for next year, and fortunately the doubts I had at the beginning of the season have been washed away, and I will be joining you as the Headmaster of this Blog again for the 2019-2020 season. I’d like to thank all of you, the readers, players, coaches, parents, etc, for making DIII Tennis an awesome community. Without your play, readership, coaching, enthusiasm, and all those other factors, we honestly would have nothing to write about. We at the Blog have a common goal – and that is to promote DIII Tennis in whatever way we can. This was another milestone year, as we are at almost 4 MILLION views all time, which is about 3.9 Million more views than the Guru thought this site would ever have.

We’ve accomplished a lot this year, mainly adding a huge Women’s presence to the Blog, which we all know has been clamored for for years now. I’m glad to say most of our Women’s writers will be back next year, ready to continue on their momentum of this year. Additionally, we introduced a slightly new interface on the site, with the hope we will be making some big changes this summer.

Anyways, the point of this post is to continue to improve this site and reach new heights – and that is driven from you, the readers. Yes, we will be back next year (hooray).  If you all could provide some feedback for us in any of the bullet-points below, that would be great and potentially something we look into next year! We will take all feedback, we’re not afraid to stick our necks out!  Don’t be afraid to write a comment, good or bad.  It’s great to hear you all.

Feel free to also email me at d3atlanticsouth@gmail.com if you have suggestions you’d like to keep private.  Thanks to all of you for a great year, and we still have 3 great days to go!

1) Constructive Feedback for the blog – anything from writing styles, types of articles, etc

2) Suggestion Articles – anything that you would have loved to see that we can explore for next year?

3) Praise! – What did we do well this year?

4) Twitter Presence – any feedback regarding our twitters.  Too many tweets, too much commentary, etc, etc?  Anything else you’d like to see?

5) The Site – we’re not site masters, so let us know if you think you can improve the site!

6) Misc. – Anything that came to you during the year and you wanted to let us know but were scared to.

7) General Ideas/Thoughts – with a face to one of our names, what are some cool things you think we can do for next year? Anything to get you all more interacted with the blog?

8) NEW WRITERS – As you all know, we are always looking for new writers. We may or may not have a couple of new openings – if you have any interest in writing whatsoever, please reach out to me via my email, d3atlanticsouth@gmail.com.  I will determine if you are a great fit for our team as well as what your role will be. We have been very flexible in the past, and we love anyone that has enthusiasm for DIII Tennis.

I’d like to end this post by again thanking you all for a great season. We are not done yet, as we will have individuals coverage as well as giving out some End of Season Awards as we do every year. Thank you again, and for the almost final time of the 2018-2019 season…. ASouth, OUT.

The blog is awesome — so great to have a place for D3 fans to go! Thank you so much for all of your efforts!

I would love to see more results posted. Is it possible to have a results tab or box which has the results posted? I enjoy reading the preview, but it’s also fun to know what happened!

Obviously, dogs of D3 was a huge hit and in keeping with the sense of humor the blog always brings. 🙂 Bring it back… and finish it… those are my suggestions there.

I will have two sons playing D3 tennis next year and I appreciate the ability to see the wider picture, gain an understanding of the national field, and I appreciate the increasingly positive and supportive coverage over the years.

I would love to see a detailed investigative journalist article on the issues inside the NCAA that cause the pool C situation to be so screwed up, including interviews with key participants and current (or recent past) committee members. What are the key hurdles? Who could actually change the situation? What are their incentives? Who would be harmed and who would be helped? Inquiring minds want to know…

Love the blog, you guys do a great job of helping me follow d3 tennis. I really enjoyed the womens coverage this year and it really got me excited to follow it, great job.

I like the idea of offseason content as well, does not need to be a lot, and you cover most everything but topics such as (in no particular order):
    – New players you are excited about
    – Teams that will jump (or fall) significantly
    – Conference predictions (really for the UAA and NESCAC would be enough, I want you to do one of the NCAC but that is because I played in conference, not because they deserve it)
    – Article on how to get the NCAA postseason right so we are not leaving out top 20 teams consistently

You cover most of this stuff anyways, but just some ideas.

Also, I played in the Alumni challenge by the USTA and it would be cool if you guys were involved in that, not necessarily playing (that would of course be cool) but could organize a D3 blog team of players that maybe dont have enough interest from their school but still are following tennis, or really partner with them to promote it as it was a fun event but I think could do with more support from a great community like this. I dont want to add to the workload so even the mention on here that you already did was great, but anything would help I would guess.

Another great year of blogging. I’ve been following this blog for over 10 years, and am very appreciative for all that you guys do. If I turned back the clock even 5 years and saw what the blog is today, I would be starstruck.

In the spirit of wanting more of what you guys already do, the only suggestion I have would be to find a way to remain a presence in the offspring. I would love to see a notification in my email inbox of a post–whether it’s related to recruiting, or just musings (tennis or non-tennis related). You guys have built a unique community.

    Thank you

*Remain a presence in the off-season.

Not sure how much you like the women’s side but we’ve got lots of goodies planned for the off-season. Thanks so much for reading!!

I’m sorry for the late reply. Meant to respond earlier. You guys are doing a great job with women’s content, and I have enjoyed reading it. Keep it up! Thanks!

Bravo/brava to everyone involved in the Blog for another fantastic job this year. There will always be rivalries in college sports, but this website helps make D3 tennis less tribal and more communal. Have a great summer and looking forward to next year.

Great job adding regional reports for teams we don’t hear about all the time and obviously the coverage of women’s tennis has been way more active than ever. Good work team!!
