FINAL POOL-C SPOT BLIND RESUME

BRANDEIS VS WASH U “BLIND COMPARISON”

AS: Hi all. As you may or may not have seen on Twitter, DIII Tennis World and Blog  is up in arms because of the inclusion of Wash U in the Men’s Bracket instead of Brandeis. Below, you will find some blind resumes, based on the NCAA manual, between the two teams. It’s a very easy way to break this down. If you would like to know what happened, please see my Pool C article that I posted early this AM on what I expected to happen. I was, unfortunately, correct. And it takes a lot for me to say that.

In the above article, I mention that Wash U is probably going to get in because they will most likely get compared against Amherst, who they have beaten H2H. However, if we were given a POOL OF ENTRANTS, which would KIND OF make sense given that it’s called POOL C, then we’d be comparing resumes. Is it a little more work? Yes. But are we not allowed to complain about getting the best possible draw with what we have with just a little bit of effort?

  1. Brandeis got the shaft

Brandeis got hosed. No doubt about it. But every year a team gets screwed. This year is worse than others, especially since this would be the first year in a long, long time that Brandeis would go to the tournament.

But honestly, Case, CMU, Williams and Tufts should get in as well. And you can make an argument for others. These teams would get in if it were a different sport like basketball. Nothing is going to change unless the UAA and NESCAC coaches get together with their ADs and complain to the NCAA. The NCAA could change this if they want to. There is no chance they will change it unless they get pressure to do so. Until that happens there will be a “who got screwed” article every year.

      Bingo.

Look out for the Deis men next year. Not only heavily talented, but now playing with a chip on their collective shoulders!

Thanks for writing this. So bummed for these guys. They got sucker punched. Ultimately it came down to a subjective decision among 4 men, who appeared to pick the team THEY wanted. Starting Judges lineup will all be back next year…hardened and ready. #rolldeis
