Dogs of D3 Bracket Challenge

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s the moment you have all been waiting for! IT’S THE DOGS OF D3. Shoutout to CalTech Coach Cohen for suggesting this because it’s an awesome idea. We have 17 amazing submissions who are contending for the first ever #DogsOfD3 title! In my eyes, they are all winners, but this is a competition, so in order to determine a winner, we are going to leave it up to YOU, the loyal readers. We will be running polls in each article as they come out, so make sure you check in often and vote for your favorite! As I mentioned, there are 17 entries, which means a SUDDEN DEATH PAW IN ROUND and voting is officially open from now until tomorrow at 8 PM EST (poll is at the end of the article)! Now it’s time to meet the competitors (top 8 are seeds in order, the rest are random) and take a look at the bracket!

#1 Maggie (UChicago)

This is Maggie. She comes from the midwest. Probably can hear things on both coasts depending on the ear angle. Good ears. Really good doggo. 

#2 Gary (Stevens Tech)

Gary has been working hard on his Blue Steel look. Zoolander would approve. Be careful, if you stare for too long, you might fall in love.

#3 Cleo (The Blog/CHB)

Cleo enjoys hiking and rafting and sh!t, much like her owner. In her downtime she enjoys snuggles and cuddles and kisses, unlike her owner.

#4 Bean (Hamilton)

Beans, beans, they’re good for your heart. The more you eat the more you… Wait, please don’t eat Bean. He’s a certified good boy.

#5 River (Amherst W)

Mr. Steal Yo Girl Rivers. Has as much swag as wag. Probably shouldn’t bring your girlfriend around. She will give him more attention.

#6 Rafa (UCSC M)

After long days chasing balls on the clay, Rafa gets tired. It’s ok though, he is more than happy to take your seat on the couch. And you WILL allow it.

#7 Tuukka (Amherst M)

Tuukka is the king of fluff. When he occasionally plays hockey, he might get a little ruff. But at the end of the day, iss ok, he always gives kisses and stuff.

#8 Rocky (Linfield)

Say hello to Rocky. He is a very good story teller. You might ask why. It’s because he knows how to paws for dramatic effect.

Lily (CalTech M)

Not to be confused for a squiggle worm, Lily is a mini dachshund. She enjoys long wiggle dances on the ground and belly rubs.

Tex (Oberlin)

Tex is retiring from the days of the wild wild west. Now he is pursuing a career in modeling. Great lighting and contrast. Great dog.

Stuart Litl’ (Williams W)

This is Stuart Litl’. His favorite kind of ice cream is a pupsicle. He likes to run around fast in the snow. So he doesn’t become one.

Moon (RPI W)

Moon is blind, but that doesn’t stop him for living his best life. He sometimes likes to play hide and seek in the snow, to mess with his owner.

Lola and Bumpa (L&C W)

Lola and Bumpa are our first dynamic doggie duo. They enjoy L&C tennis matches and stand guard when “Pio” the Newfoundland can’t be there.

Reggie (Kenyon M)

Reggie is the #1 ball boy for the Lords. He watches over the courts intently, waiting for someone to fence an overhead. Then he retrieves it. Good boy.

Captain (Dickinson)

Captain’s favorite city is New Yorkie. His second favorite is Gotham. He puts on his harness to become the Dog Knight. A movie trilogy is in the works. 

Millie and Chunky (Swarthmore M)

Millie and Chunky are still trying to acclimate to the Pennsylvania winters. But it’s ok, as long as they have each other, they won’t become chili dogs.

Wicket (Pomona-Pitzer W)

We asked for dog pictures, but will accept this fluffleluffigus bear cub known as Wicket. Will lick the sweat of your leg post practice. Good dog.

We have some really great first round matchups, but as I mentioned earlier, there is a play in round between the double dog trouble duos to set the stage! Be sure to vote for your favorite dog team to advance and take on our top dog Maggie!
