Provide the Blog Feedback, 2018 Style!

With much excitement but also sadness, another amazing DIII season will come to an end today at the Men’s and Women’s finals. However, do not fear. DIII Tennis will continue on after today, and I am excited to say that with DIII Tennis comes another year of our Division III Tennis blog. Many of my writers are signed on for next year, and fortunately the doubts I had at the beginning of the season have been washed away, and I will be joining you as the Headmaster of this Blog again for the 2018-2019 season. I’d like to thank all of you, the readers, players, coaches, parents, etc, for making DIII Tennis an awesome community. Without your play, readership, coaching, enthusiasm, and all those other factors, we honestly would have nothing to write about. We at the Blog have a common goal – and that is to promote DIII Tennis in whatever way we can. This was another milestone year, as we are at almost 3 MILLION views all time, which is about 2.9 Million more views than the Guru thought this site would ever have. In regards to this year, we’ve added a couple new writers, done some newer articles like Stream of Consciousness and HOT TAKES, and just generally tried to keep it fresh. We have big plans for next year, including a totally new interface for our site, which I know I have been promising for a while now. But, it will get there!

Anyways, the point of this post is to continue to improve this site and reach new heights – and that is driven from you, the readers. Yes, we will be back next year (hooray).  If you all could provide some feedback for us in any of the bullet-points below, that would be great and potentially something we look into next year! We will take all feedback, we’re not afraid to stick our necks out!  Don’t be afraid to write a comment, good or bad.  It’s great to hear you all.

Feel free to also email me at d3atlanticsouth@gmail.com if you have suggestions you’d like to keep private.  Thanks to all of you for a great year, and we still have 3 great days to go!

1) Constructive Feedback for the blog – anything from writing styles, types of articles, etc

2) Suggestion Articles – anything that you would have loved to see that we can explore for next year?

3) Praise! – What did we do well this year?

4) Twitter Presence – any feedback regarding our twitters.  Too many tweets, too much commentary, etc, etc?  Anything else you’d like to see?

5) The Site – we’re not site masters, so let us know if you think you can improve the site!

6) Misc. – Anything that came to you during the year and you wanted to let us know but were scared to.

7) General Ideas/Thoughts – with a face to one of our names, what are some cool things you think we can do for next year? Anything to get you all more interacted with the blog?

8) Women’s Writing – With the addition of D3Nameless (for now) on the Women’s side, things are looking bright for our future in regards to the Women’s portion of the site. Hopefully, with a new site interface, we can give women’s a more prominent presence on the site and a way to get even more readers interacting with all of us!

9) NEW WRITERS – As you all know, we are always looking for new writers. We may or may not have a couple of new openings – if you have any interest in writing whatsoever, please reach out to me via my email, d3atlanticsouth@gmail.com.  I will determine if you are a great fit for our team as well as what your role will be. We have been very flexible in the past, and we love anyone that has enthusiasm for DIII Tennis.

I’d like to end this post by again thanking you all for a great season. We are not done yet, as we will have individuals coverage as well as giving out some End of Season Awards as we do every year. Thank you again, and for the almost final time of the 2017-2018 season…. ASouth, OUT.

Love the Blog guys, no complaints over here and appreciate the content you guys put out on a weekly basis.

Spectacular performance again this year. The blog is a phenomenal resource and we owe you all a huge debt for your service to the D3 Tennis community. Thank you!

Three suggestions for articles next year:

First, do an in depth interview (or series of interviews) with the relevant members of the NCAA D3 Tennis Committee and NCAA D3 Championships Committee to understand exactly what the issues are with the current Pool C constraint, who would need to approve what to improve it, and whether the D3 community can bring any pressure to bear to help matters.

Second, do an analysis of how effective UTR is as a ranking metric within D3 and how it could be improved. It might also be useful to look at UTR Open tournaments with strong D3 participation.

Third, do a writeup of D3 players within the ITA Summer Circuit and who accomplished what.

Most importantly, though – THANK YOU!

Thanks to all the writers for the outstanding analysis this season. I particularly enjoyed the stream of consciousness/hot takes articles, which reactivated the originating spirit of the Blog. The hazing series was also very well done and recognized the complexity of the topic–you emphasized that hazing is unacceptable, while also granting that the line between ‘team-building’ and ‘hazing’ is sometimes difficult to navigate.

    Bravo on another great year.

Tell us more about D3 siblings of the decade!!!!!!!!

Same here, looking forward to it

I would like to have prior warning that table 12 has more to offer than what meets the eye.

But seriously, you guys killed it this year. Thanks for making D3 tennis so enjoyable to follow.

      You donked it

Great job this year, you guys do a great job covering everything and helping me follow the d3 tennis season. I really enjoyed the hot takes articles and the previews as always. I did miss the fantasy draft this year, that was pretty cool. Heck if you did a “real” d3 fantasy league I would be in (but have no idea how that would work or how to put it together). The womens coverage was great this year so keep it up. Thank you for all the hard work you put in!

Love the blog – great job!!

I appreciate the addition of the results ticker tape. However, I think it would be awesome to add a button for all results. The ticker tape is a tough way to scroll and understand when you are looking for several teams. Especially when it also shows upcoming and perhaps a few days of results… a results archive? Or just a results section.

My feedback is that the blog is magnificent and adds so much to the college tennis experience for players and fans. We appreciate so much all of your effort to make division3tennis the best!!! I share Sean’s thought about the value of calling out bad behavior, and also highlighting the many positive stories.

Congrats to D3Tennis for another thought-provoking, comprehensive year! I would like to see some positive emphasis on sportsmanship. While sportsmanship overall is still pretty good in D3, I feel there is a little slippage each year. Your blog calls out a few teams and coaches for obnoxious behavior, as you should, but emphasizing positive acts of sportsmanship is just as important. I think the NCAA identifies a sportsmanship winner after individuals are over – maybe your blog could name a team sportsmanship winner for the season and/or for the Final 8, plus an individual sportsmanship winner.
