One of the many articles we debuted last year was something we called “This Week in Highlights,” which was kind of a mix between John Oliver’s “Last Week Tonight” and Sportscenter’s “Top 10 Plays.” It was a pretty big hit, and it gave a ton of teams some great exposure to the national scene with their varying array of clinching points, tweeners, and things like that. This year, “TWIH” has kind of taken a back seat, well, simply because I haven’t had the time. I’ve really been focusing on the content of this blog and I think we’ve overall done a great job! However, that does NOT mean highlights should take a back seat! In this article, I’ll run through some of my highlights of the year, and leave the forum open for those of you that would love to get featured in a future TWIH article. I’m going to try and do them more often. DUN NA NA, DUN NA NA, THIS IIIIIIIIIIIIIS THE BLOG.
Let’s start off with this weekend, where Ricardo DelOlmo-Parrado (great name D3ASW) clinched against clutch Sam Concannon of Case Western in a barn burning 5-4 dance between two former Central powers.

What a point for match point! Coach Belletto wouldn’t like the “celebrate with your teammates before walking up like a robot and shaking hands with your opponent” though. Anyways, onto another celebration before the handshake point.

Love the celebration after CMU clinched over Kenyon, also 5-4, this past weekend. WHAT U GOT NEXT FOR ME ASOUTH? Well, I’ve got another 5-4 clincher for you from this past weekend, this time Southwestern over Trinity TX. DOWN WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT!

Next up, we have a highlight from Millsaps. Judging from the quality of dancing in this video, this is more like a lowlight. Seriously, out of all the dances to incorporate, you incorporate the YMCA? You know how many new dances you have? The Walmart dance, dabbing, running man, some other things that cultured people do, I mean c’mon! Not even the Macarena either! Jeez.

Let’s get back to things we’re actually proud of in DIII Tennis, like how Kenyon was extremely proud of this somewhat WEAK tweener from Michael Liu. CHB even wrote a whole article on this that has yet to be posted but should be soon.
Hey @ESPN, @FOXSports, @CBSSports, check out this tweener from @KenyonMTEN senior Michael Liu during tonight's match vs. Ohio Wesleyan. #NCAAD3 pic.twitter.com/Vzhgbkr200

I guess say what you want about tweeners, but all tweeners are not created equal. Let’s move back to some swag points, such as this clincher by Tommy Entwistle of GAC over Wash U (fact check).

Nice. And we get another on court celebration prior to handshake, which basiclally should be the norm these days. Let the players live. Switching gears for a second, here’s CMS’s Julian Gordy with a smooth backhand up the line. Nothing flashy, just #winning.

Let’s go back East, where UMW took on Bates and finished the doubles play with this point. Thanks for the easy to understand caption, Eagles.

And what would TWIH be without some more clinchers. In another CMU nail biter, here’s the clinching point from CMU’s first win over Wash U on the Men’s side in their history. Ray Boppana went out and crushed it.

And because we love Coach Browning, here’s his post match interview after Emory took out the Gusties in the first round of Indoors, with a huge comeback victory.

Here’s the match clinching point from senior Michael Liu of Kenyon against Sewanee. Not sure I agree with the throwing of inanimate objects onto the court post-match, but Lords will be Lords…

Now we move to PLAYSIGHT for our next video, and sorry to those of you that were expecting to not click any outside links in this article. But, you guys really should watch this, as Zachary Lane of Grinnell hits a behind the back lob and wins the point. Not sure he had to, but I guess if you can win in style, you win in style.

Let’s go to the peeps from Colby, who insist on bothering me about Scott Altmeyer a lot. More points like this, and maybe I’ll jump on the Altmeyer bandwagon.

Let’s hop on over to a Whitman vs. Sewanee match, where the Tigers of the South took their biggest win of the year. Had to upload this one via the Youtube channel.
Not great video, but at least you get to see the celebration.
AND THAT’S ALL WE GOT FOR YOU TODAY! If you have other highlights that should have been posted, let me know! I’m all for posting more and more highlights throughout the year. If only D3Tree could help me out again by tagging me in random highlights. Hope you enjoyed! ASouth, OUT.

do you guys have video?
