Here we have the latest chapter in our division3tennis.com Power Rankings. In this chapter, old stalwarts have risen to beat previously overrated foes and new challengers have joined the top 30. Regional biases have been called out and some have been thrown out the window, but not all have been eliminated. However, one team still stands as the unanimous top of the throne as his challengers continue to fight for the right to challenge. Here is the information that has gone into our latest chapter.

Movers and Shakers
Amherst, Up 3 Spots to #3 – The Lord Jeffs decided to come out of their shell and notch Coach Doebler’s first significant Spring win as the Amherst coach. With a shellacking of Wash U (and I mean shellacking), we have decided to award them with the #3 spot in our rankings, with some people putting them #4. Amherst is a team that comes around the end of the year and this year will probably be no different. Unless it is.
Tufts, Down 5 Spots to #24 – This is what happens when your team has a lot of hype and it has not yet come to pass. After suffering a tough loss at the hands of Brandeis, the Jumbos move down despite having two awesome music videos. Here’s to hoping one of the most entertaining teams in DIII finds their way and shapes up their performance to get into the NESCAC tournament.
Those were our two BIG moves this week, but there are obviously a few more moves that you can take note of and comment below. I have nothing else to say, but as a PSA – if you haven’t watched the Stevens Reads Mean Blogs video on the top left of our site, please do! Alright, we out!
slightly confused by d3wests choice of wash u over emory in its ranking. When Amherst just spanked wash u and emory had also beat them with a similar score. Smh d3west smh
Emory beat Wash U who beat Trinity who beat Emory. In the 3-way ties, I go with the rest of a team’s resume. Emory hasn’t won a top 20 match since mid-February and just beat NCW only slightly more convincingly than Stevens and Depauw. Wash U may have lost to Amherst, but have wayyyyyy more wins than Emory. It’s real simple stuff. Try to keep up
blech, Wash U beat Trinity on the third day of the Stag-Hen after Trinity’s 10 matches in 5 days trip.
They played NCW without Halpern…. And still won 6-3, seems more convincing then you stated. So maybe You should keep up or actually look a little deeper into the Match you are using as your ammunition.
While I agree with you about the rankings (I have Emory ahead), these are power rankings. D3West is a fan of the Wash U team and looked at their resume and put them ahead. They have a lot of good wins despite their shellacking by Amherst and those are his reasons why. In no way is this what he thinks the ITA rankings will look like, but a true Power Ranking.
Also, in no way is this “incompetence,” which is I think what is irritating us.
Power Rankings are like what you would see on ESPN. A mix of things with no true definition. All our bloggers have power rankings as subjective. This has never changed. They use objective facts to validate their arguments. I could wake up tomorrow and say “Emory is going to win it all!” and put them at #1 because that’s what my gut says. But I would need objective facts to stand up in an argument.
GO LORDS!!!!!
