The Warhawks had a very memorable Fall highlighted by a deep ITA tournament run by
Sophomore Megan Humphreys. Not only did she win the ITA regional event, she continued her run all the wat to the finals of the small college nationals. After playing an entire season at #2 singles last year, Megan is looking to lead the Warhawks back to the NCAA tournament. Not to be outdone, the doubles tandem Beck/McGuire also won their ITA regional tournament. Coach Frank Barnes walks into his 13th season with a solid core to build upon.

Line-up: The line-up will see So. Megan Humphreys try to fill a huge void that was lost last year with the graduation of Alexandra Bayliss. Despite a strong start by the Warhawk doubles and Humphreys’ epic run, any further movement up the rankings will be tough to come by. They lost three seasoned veterans from last years squad and replaced them with very talented yet inexperienced freshman. Certainly a work in progress, but also a team Coach Barnes will have playing at a top 20 level in no time at all.

Projected line-up:

#1 Singles: So. Megan Humphreys – Outstanding and gritty baseliner who’s unorthodox
approach makes her a tough out for anyone. #1 in central for a reason.

#2 Singles: Fr. Brigid McGuire – talented true freshman who holds a building block for Coach Barnes squad.

#3 Singles: Sr. Amanda Dick – Senior veteran who helps sway the depth.

#4 Singles: So. Amy Upthagrove – Another talented Sophomore that is a year seasoned but maybe a little high for what Coach Barnes would have preferred.

#5 Singles: Fr. Alexandra Talyansky – young talented freshman who will look to grow as a single competitor.

#6 Singles: Fr. Alicia Beck – Like her #5 counterpart, a young freshman who will need
competitive experience to help them against some stronger opponents.

#1 Doubles: Humphreys/Upthagrove

#2 Doubles: McGuire/Beck – ITA Central Region Champs

#3 Doubles: Miller/Wallace

Schedule Analysis:

The UW-W schedule has a lot of good challenges to test the Warhawks youthful line-up.
Spring Break trip showdown with Wellesley will test the depth and will of the young line-up. A strong showing in the Midwest invite will be crucial considering some other regional rivals have picked up. Humphreys vs Iranpour is looming as a key NCAA posturing showdown. Ranking protectors such as UT-Tyler and Wash U. will provide resume boosters to keep the Warhawks relevant on the national ranking scene. Noticeable is the absence of DePauw on this years schedule. Luckily the Midwest invite may have them face off if the draw works out.

Keys To Success:

1) Doubles – Getting two out of three doubles will be a theme as the Warhawks will
challenge DePauw for the title of best doubles in the central. With a youthful line-up, this relief in pressure will be necessary.

2) McGuire – Brigid will need to play like a seasoned veteran right away. The
Bayliss/Humphreys one-two punch was one of the best out there. That is a lot of wins to replace from the 2014 campaign.

3) Depth – If you had to spot one major weakness of the Warhawks on paper its is the #4 singles spot and below. To early to tell if they can hold their own against the regions elite. No doubt Coach Barnes will have them prepared and ready to go.
