Its the mooooooost wonderful time, OF THE YEAAAAAARRR! Indoors means a few things to me – it means the start of an amazing season. It means the best non NESCAC teams are competing for a pseudo national championship in February! And it means blog coverage is back. So, welcome to the main event. INDOORS DAILY FANTASY. All of you know what is about to go down. D3NE will go through the rules, but basically you all get to choose your fave players to play for you. Want Oscar Burney in his first Indoors? Choose him. Want Mohanad Alhouni to rake for you at the top of the GAC lineup? You got it. Its all there for the taking. Quit the chatter, AS, and let’s get to some DRAFTKINGS.
First things first, a somewhat important disclaimer: we at The Blog do not condone gambling. This is merely a fun, skill-based exercise with no actual money involved. Click here to read more about the NCAA’s position on gambling with regards to DIII. This is supposed to be fun, so whether you have never played fantasy sports, or you lose almost every Sunday while splitting your lineup with a friend, give it a try! There is no money involved. Now, let’s get to the rules so you all can have all the time you want to make some trial lineups.
D3NE’S RULES/IMPORTANT STUFF
- A lineup must consist of 6 different players from the list below
- A lineup must not exceed a total cost of $35,000
- You must take players from at least two different teams
- A player earns 3 points for each singles win at any position in the starting lineup (#1-6 singles)
- A player earns 2 points for each doubles win at any position in the starting lineup (#1-3 doubles)
- Lineups DO NOT have to consist of a player from each position. You may take 6 #1’s if the prices allow it (they don’t)
- Lineups lock at the beginning of the tournament (9 a.m. on Friday, 2/23)
- Total high score at the end of the weekend wins a prize of an interview with me (D3NE)
- The tournament home page (including schedule) can be found here
- This is our third consecutive year doing DIII Tennis Daily Fantasy, and it’s been really fun so far! That being said, please let us know what you like or what could be improved. Feel free to reach out in the comments section, through email (D3Northeast@gmail.com) or via Twitter. Help us make the game better!
WHAT THE RULES MEAN
They should be pretty self explanatory, but basically you choose six players from the list below and the sum of their prices cannot be greater than $35,000. You cannot be a total homer and take 6 guys from your favorite team. A singles win is worth three points no matter what spot in the lineup or the strength of opponent. For example, a Jonathan Jemison win at #1 singles for Emory is worth the exact same amount of points as a Tommy Entwistle win at #6 for GAC. Doubles wins are worth two points, but the same theory applies. Parodi & Gordy would each earn 2 individual points for a win at #1 doubles for CMS. If you have both guys in your lineup, that would be worth a total of 4 points. Once the tournament starts (Friday at 9 a.m. EST), no further lineup selections will be accepted. Total high score through the weekend wins an interview with me and hopefully some prize of sorts.
PLAYER LIST/PRICES and HOW TO JOIN
We have listed the prices below, as well as in the following link – DRAFTKINGS PRICES. Self explanatory, right? Please note that you do NOT need to pick players from each singles or doubles position. To enter your team, please email either D3AS or myself your team (d3northeast@gmail.com or d3atlanticsouth@gmail.com). You can also tweet your lineup to any one of us. Ask for a confirmation please, thanks!
Please note you can only have ONE SUBMISSION per person. For those of you that would like to stay anonymous, please include that in your email with your team name. We will not post your identity and only include your team name on the site. We will be checking your team if it is over budget. If it is, you have to change it or you will be disqualified from the event.
Please submit your team in the following format:
Your Team Name
Player #1
Player #2,
Player #3
Player #4
Player #5
Player #6
Again, email or Twitter DM us your teams before Friday at 9AM ET. Somehow some of you are always late despite our warnings, but we’ve come to expect that out of you all. If only that was a two way street. Reminder to all of you that I won this thing last year, and unless you want to hear me brag all year again, I’d suggest you step it up. ASouth, OUT.

For future reference, what happens if one team clinches a match and immediately stops everyone else from playing while one of my selected players is still on court? Does my player get a win if his team wins? Or if he’s up in the match? Or does it count as “no result”?
Matches are supposed to be played out at Indoors, so each match should finish. As we saw earlier today, they finished the 3rd set at #5 and played a super at #3 after Wash U had already clinched
If a match were to end unfinished on the final day, no points would be awarded to either player. You have to win a match to get the points
1. Patrick Wildman
2. Patrick Wildman
3. Patrick Wildman
4. Patrick WIldman
5. Patrick Wildman
6. Patrick Wildman
This lineup has character, even if it will be scoring 0 points in our game this weekend. Coach Settles said that his senior is out for around another month
seems unfair that you guys have access to lineups and we dont
We don’t have any access to any lineups. We speculate based on recent matches, which will be in most of our previews.
Do the 6 players have to be distinct? Can I go all-or-nothing hoping that if a player wins singles and doubles in a match I get 6*3 + 6*2 = 30 points?
Props to you, we’ve never had that question before. Once you select a player, you cannot draft him again. So…yes, they have to be distinct.
