5.6 Women’s Power Rankings

It’s been a quiet year for the blog on the Women’s side, but we are determined to amp it up a notch as we head into the NCAA period with some coverage that I know some fans are thirsting for. D3NEW has been on top of her game with breaking down Pool C and the NE region, where a lot of our Women’s fans seem to reside. Today, we will be providing our first Power Rankings of the year as we go into the NCAA Tournament thinking about who has the best chance of winning it all.  Okay, see below for Power Rankings. You all know the drill.

And there you have it. Since this is the first Power Rankings we’ve done all year, I’ve included the last ITA Ranking for your reference and the change from that ITA Ranking.  Most of it is pretty similar, but we do have some changes here and there given that we have the most updated results reflected.  Also, given that these are power rankings, it’s really important to see which teams we think are over or underplaying their rankings. This is the first one so I do expect a lot of comments regarding this, especially since we’ve had a few people ask for Women’s Power Rankings this year!  Okay, question away.

Why is Tufts so low in the ITA rankings?

It looks like the committee took Tufts’ loss to MIT into account pretty heavily. Although Tufts had beaten Chicago, these rankings came out the weekend after the UAA tournament, where Chicago had a great weekend, and Wash U defeated Carnegie Mellon. So, the UAA teams moved up.

Nothing to worry about, though! If there were ITA rankings this week (which there aren’t), Tufts would be in the top 10.

6 NESCAC teams between 2-9. Should make for a heck of a conference tournament!

Were any of the bloggers at NESCACs? Results-wise, it certainly looked like a heck of a conference tournament…on the lower half of the draw, at least.
