The FINAL Bracketologies

It’s NCAA eve everyone! I’ve been living my life this weekend (shoutout to Quaz), but I’m here because we HAVE to get you at least one final bracketology for all of your reading goodness.  I know it’s late for some of you (D3Central in particular), but I also know that many of the players have finals and that they are looking for some procrastination tools.  Don’t read that parents, trust me.  It’s probably not your kid anyways!

Either way, the Guru has come up with three different brackets that he likes – remember none of these are guaranteed to happen, but they have a chance to happen.  If you have comments, etc, let us know because you guys have been killing it this year with em.  With Middlebury’s shellacking of Williams today in the NESCAC final (not gonna say I told you so), we think we have a good grasp on who’s going to end up where.  Shoutout to the NCAA for always making this tough.  You know the freakin rules, let’s post this thing!

Bracket 1

1) CMS*, Pomona-Pitzer, Santa Cruz, UT-Tyler

2) Amherst*, Stevens, Skidmore, Nichols, Colby-Sawyer, Southern Maine

3) Middlebury*, Bowdoin, MIT, Hunter, Yeshiva, Ramapo

4) Emory*, NC Wesleyan, Sewanee, Washington & Lee

5) Wash U*, Whitman, Coe, Kalamazoo, Rose-Hulman

6) Trinity TX, Johns Hopkins*, TCNJ, Wilkes, Messiah, Gwynedd-Mercy

7) Chicago*, Gustavus, Whitewater, Carthage, Grinnell, Edgewood

8) Kenyon*, Mary Washington, John Caroll, Juniata, Grove City, Franciscan

My Thoughts

Obviously, you see that we have Amherst still at #2 in the country and the #2 overall seed.  In fact, this draw hasn’t changed much since the last time we posted, because that Williams win ended up being all for naught.  Bowdoin gets the shaft by being sent to Middlebury, and Chicago and Kenyon are thanking their lucky stars.  Johns Hopkins has the benefit of hosting a region with Trinity TX despite their late season collapses, but the Tigers are basically the opposite of the Jays right now.  Anyways, I’m not sure if I think this is the most likely draw, because I feel like something will change.  Thoughts, commenters?

Bracket 2

1) CMS*, Pomona-Pitzer, Santa Cruz, UT-Tyler

2) Amherst*, Mary Washington, Skidmore, Nichols, Colby-Sawyer, Gwynedd-Mercy

3) Middlebury*, Stevens, MIT, Yeshiva, Messiah, Ramapo

4) Emory*, Whitman, NC Wesleyan, Sewanee, Washington & Lee

5) Wash U*, Whitewater, Coe, Kalamazoo, Rose-Hulman

6) Trinity TX, Bowdoin*, TCNJ, Hunter, Wilkes, Southern Maine

7) Chicago*, Gustavus, Carthage, Grinnell, Edgewood

8) Kenyon*, Johns Hopkins, John Carroll, Juniata, Grove City, Franciscan

My Thoughts

Here’s the draw that I think is the most likely out of all 3.  This one is an interesting one, as we have two true cross country flights – Whitman to Emory and Trinity TX to Bowdoin.  Stevens gets sent to Middlebury instead of Amherst (yay for Matt Heinrich’s twitter account) and Amherst gets Mary Washington instead.  Wash U really lucks out with the Whitewater/Coe 2/3 combo, which has shades of 2012 in there.

Bracket 3

1) CMS*, Pomona-Pitzer, Santa Cruz, UT-Tyler

2) Amherst*, Skidmore, Hunter, Colby-Sawyer, Southern Maine, , Ramapo

3) Middlebury*, Stevens, MIT, Nichols, Yeshiva

4) Emory, Johns Hopkins, Sewanee, Washington & Lee*, Gwynedd-Mercy

5) Wash U, Gustavus, Whitewater*, Kalamazoo, Carthage, Grinnell

6) Trinity (TX), Mary Washington*, NC Wesleyan, Juniata, Messiah, Grove City

7) Chicago*, Whitman, Coe, John Caroll, Rose-Hulman, Edgewood

8) Kenyon, Bowdoin, TCNJ*, Wilkes, Franciscan

My Thoughts

The Guru told me that this was his favorite bracket of all, but he also said it’s probably the least likely.  Look at the craziness! Everyone is going everywhere in this thing.  Skidmore to Amherst? Johns Hopkins vs. Emory in an ASouth battle?  How about Chicago facing off against their exact opposite, Whitman?  Kenyon and Bowdoin squaring off in… TCNJ?! Wow, wow wow.  I really hope this bracket happens because it allows the lowest #1 seed to face off against the highest #2 seed (Bowdoin) and give us a marquee match.  Whitman/Chicago will be no joke, and Emory/Hopkins usually brings us at least some fireworks.  Cmon, NCAA, I’ve done the work for you.  Now all you gotta do is pull through.

Okay! I know that I said half an hour so I’m a little late (as usual) but all of you are studying for finals anyways.  Sucks to be you guys! Hope you guys go insane about bracketology. We OUT.

I think a team like Whitewater or Stevens could be dangerous as a 2 seed. Both play great doubles and have total studs at the top. Keep in mind this is DIVISION 3 TENNIS so while there is plenty of talent it also means that players anywhere in the lineup can get vulnerable. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see UWW upset someone this week

I know this year there is a reduction in pool C teams. Was there a reduction in pool B? Looking at who gets left out of pool C, should there be a change to pool B and added to pool C? What happens in the future if more conferences suddenly become eligible…Does pool C continue to take another hit or do they change the number of teams that get in?

Looks like Pool A and Pool C were not updated with the latest results.

If by that you mean Midd and Amherst were switched, it’s now fixed.

Thank god CMU, Williams, and Case won’t get in to make room for Grove City, Edgewood, and Gwynedd-Mercy. Lol NCAA
