Welcome back to a blog favorite, Power Rankings! Now that ITAs are over, the writers have again come together to shoot the sh*t on a google document and rank the top 42 teams from Division III Tennis. We have information now from ITAs and can form initial power rankings based on the individual performances that we saw this past weekend. It’s a new year folks, so everything that you’ve done in the past doesn’t matter anymore. Unless you believe in historical data, like myself and the Guru. Here in Power Rankings, you’ll see a couple of surprises, with a newcomer into the top 5, a few teams shifting out, and even a new top 40 team! Just like last year, I’ve reformatted the Power Rankings for you guys to have logos – the first table is the consolidated Power Rankings and the secondary table will show how each blogger voted. Note that our two new guys, DIIIWest and NewD3Central, are included. We unfortunately had to retire an old writer and CHB was too busy saving lives.
I will also use this forum to remind you of the donation button at the top left of the site! If you enjoyed our ITA coverage, these Power Rankings, or have enjoyed any coverage for the past 10 years, we appreciate it. Anything counts. If not, we’ll still keep dishing out strong articles for y’all. Feel free to wait for the Spring as well, because that’s where we do the heavy lifting. D3 Central doesn’t think Kalamazoo is a top 40 team?
Ooooops! That one is on me. I definitely think they are top 40. I just forgot them. I will chalk that one up to it being the fall and a bit less engaged in team tennis. I would put them around 30-35 right now.
Did those bloggers ranking W&L include the effect of the transfer in of sophomore Shepherd from Emory?
So not a single blogger thinks Santa Cruz should be in the top 40? Smh
Cruz’s UTR is around 65,which basically puts them around the same as the 37-42 teams. I’m surprised not one of us put them in, but for me I didn’t feel overly enthusiastic about them so I left them out.
If it were any other team, I would say, “Well we’ll just have to wait and see how the season goes” but once again the schedule won’t let the team show exactly how good they are. I can’t really say I blame you especially since Cruz isn’t even your region. I think by the end of season they’ll reappear on the power rankings.
