#15 Redlands def. #26 Bates 7-2

Redlands beat Bates by a 7-2 score today. The only two matches Bates won were in 10-pointers, so I think it’s safe to say that this victory was quite comprehensive for the Bulldogs, much more convincing that Cruz’. The box score once again displays Redlands’ solid doubles and depth. It’s safe to say that the Bulldogs are willing to fight their way back into Pool C. Right now, I like their chances.

For Bates, it couldn’t be more apparent that they only have half a team. They were able to win at 2 and 3 singles against both Redlands and Santa Cruz, but the bottom three singles matches really just weren’t that competitive in either match. I think they have a very long way to go before they can consider themselves a serious contender for a Pool C bid. Next up for Bates is CMS, and I think we all know where that match is head.

#5 CMS def. Washington & Lee 8-1

The Generals continue to compete well against teams that are much better than them, but they never really had a chance to win this one. They were out-depthed by CMS, but really, who isn’t? W&L still has matches against Case, MWU, and CMU on their schedule. Obviously, they are huge underdogs in all three matches, but I’m officially upgrading their chances in all three matches from “none” to “slim”

There’s not much to learn about CMS in this match except that Erani is playing #4 for them. I remember two years ago when he was one of the better #1 singles players in the country… I don’t he’s playing 4 now because he got worse…
