Blogger Outtake: Top 10 TV Shows

It is the off-season, ladies and gentlemen. And while we are in the heart of the season preview schedule, this does not mean the Bloggers can’t have some fun with this. Actually, it does, but we’re going to squeeze as much fun out of it as possible. As many of you know, the blogger group chat is a very real thing. Most of the time we’re talking tennis, Shaw Speer, or maybe about TORCHYS TACOS. Sometimes we’re setting up the next podcast (huge one coming in 2018 by the way), sometimes we’re setting up other group chats to discuss things that interest only a subset of us, and sometimes we’re making fun of D3RegAS. There is a whole litany of subjects we cover and the most recent one happened to be our Top 10 TV Shows of all time. Yes, we realize that this isn’t tennis related, but it’s cool to make this blog a little bit interactive sometimes.

Below, I’ve listed out the blogger’s top 10 TV Shows of ALL TIME. There is also a cumulative list, much like we do Power Rankings. Without further ado, here is every blogger’s favorite TV show list and the cumulative ranking!

I didn’t order this the normal way I order things because I wanted someone else to have the spotlight this time around. This week’s winner is D3Regional, who is the only blogger to rank Mad Men in his list and he has them at #1! I’ve listed some fun facts for you below on some of our rankings:

Picked by the Most Bloggers: The Office (US)

Random Shows that some of us haven’t heard of: American Pickers, Samurai Champloo

Random Fact: AVZ only had 1 of the Cumulative Top 10 in his Top 10 Shows. Now that’s unique!

Random Fact: Regional, NE, and The Guru had 5 of their Top 10 also appear in the Cumulative Top 10, the most of any of the bloggers.

Which Network is Best?

Of the cumulative top 10, NBC reigned supreme with their comedies, notching entries from The Office, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, and Scrubs. Only HBO was the other network to notch more than one entry with Game of Thrones and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Most Relevant Blogger:

Hats off to NewD3Central, who has a ton of the current hype shows on his list with Rick & Morty, Atlanta, and Cowboy Bebop on his short list.

The Blog is Funny: 7 out of the top 10 were comedies, by far the most of any particular genre.

There’s your little fun fact section. Now, I wanted to do a quick blurb about some of my picks, because I feel like it. D3NE may or may not join me.

AS: Obviously some of my picks are pretty standard with Game of Thrones up at top and Parks and Recreation at #3. I do want to give a huge shoutout to Black Mirror, (Season 4 December 29 btw), which is probably one of my favorite shows at this very moment. If you’re looking for a show that will make you think, add a creepy vibe to the whole thing, and give you the chills about modern technology, Black Mirror is your show. Seriously, give it a try. I have two guilty pleasures at the back of my list in Silicon Valley and Suits that I realize aren’t really top 10 quality, but I like them anyways. NE will probably do this but I’m going to call out NewD3Central for choosing True Detective and then qualifying it with Season 1 because Season 2 was such garbage. Not going to lie, I haven’t watched S3 of Narcos yet but I will be soon, and I’ve heard some really damn good things.

NE: I absolutely am going to do that. Everybody, please point and laugh at NewD3Central. Silly rookie, thinking he can choose only one season of TV. There are some shows that started off great but ended just horribly. For example, How I Met Your Mother, Dexter, and The West Wing were all really really good at the start, and even for a few seasons, but they all went downhill so hard that it ruined the show. Note, the Guru has a bunch of shows on his list that started great and went downhill, draw your own conclusions. The first season of True Detective was one of my favorite seasons of TV ever, but when 1/2 the show stinks, it can’t be on a top-10 list. /Rant. Some underrated choices on here are Whose Line Is It Anyway, which I think you can watch most of on Youtube these days, Suits, and Law & Order SVU, all of which were great. Also shoutout to D3RegNEC for putting TennisChannelLive in his top-10, it’s a perfect reflection of the blogger. Back to you, Headmaster.

OK GUYS, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? We wanted this to be a fun exercise and humanize a little bit. We don’t only pore over DIII statistics all day long, we have lives outside of the Blog and we sure as hell watch a lot of TV (and sports). We’re thinking about making these fun articles a staple on the blog where you can get to know us and we can also get to know what’s going down outside of the tennis world. Again, we’ll always be tennis focused, but hey, it’s cool to take a break once in a while. Shoot your commentary in the comments below, I want to hear what your top 10s are!  ASouth, OUT.

Lurking. And have also watched two and a half seasons of 24 in the last 7 days @DIIIWest

  3. Harvey Specter

What did you just say to me? Suits is a goddamn #1 show! (Silicon Valley though well past it’s prime, RIP Erlich)

  4. Mr. Meseeks

Shout out to D3 West for putting DBZ on the list. Literally every child has attempted a Kamehameha growing up, and it’s nice for it to get some recognition

  5. D3NE Womens

Top 3: The Office (US), Friday Night Lights, The Twilight Zone

  6. A South team

Have to say that D3regAS made some good picks with American pickers and stranger things
