Blogger Perspective: This Northeast Liberal Arts powerhouse built quite the tennis dynasty during the past decade, highlighted by four appearances in the national title matches over the six seasons between 2009 and 2014. The newly named Mammoths are under the tutelage of Todd Doebler, who joined the program just before the 2015 season. Doebler has recruited at a very high level for the past couple seasons, causing our target ranking for a starter to be close to 100. Amherst is another top school that competes in the NESCAC with peers Middlebury, Williams, Bowdoin and Wesleyan. In the past decade, the NESCAC has had four different teams win a national title, but Herst is the only team in the country to win multiple national titles, as they were victors in 2011 and 2014. Amherst is still finding their footing with Coach Doebler, but they are headed in the right direction and should be helped by a brand new outdoor facility with scoreboards.

Much like their NESCAC peers, Amherst is an outstanding liberal arts school with a fairly isolated geographic location and a work hard, play hard culture. The Amherst degree carries weight nationwide and perennially appears in the top 3 US News ranking for top liberal arts schools. The Mammoths have an extensive alumni network in the world of New York finance as well as in Boston. They have a heated rivalry with their Massachusetts neighbor Williams that has run across virtually every varsity sport for decades. Amherst has become a very trendy destination for top tennis players attracting numerous 5-Star recruits throughout the years, and we expect that to continue.
